The team for every match consisted of (from left to right in the photo opposite): Kit Wallen Russell, Nial McCaffrey, Sam Molina, and Sam Wallen Russell.

May 2009 - Wimbledon Ticket Club Ballot

The 2009 Wimbledon ticket club ballot was held on Saturday 16th of May. Thirteen members won the opportunity to purchase pairs of Wimbledon tickets. The tennis club will be allocated Wimbledon tickets for 2010 based on the number of club members who are signed up to British Tennis membership. To be able to take part in the ballot, you must be a club member, a British Tennis member and aged at least 9 years of age.

British Tennis Membership is free for members of LTA affiliated clubs such as ours. As well as having a chance of winning the opportunity to purchase Wimbledon tickets, members can also gain a player rating which then gives access to a wide array of competitive opportunities. For more information on British Tennis Membership, please visit http://www.lta.org.uk/BritishTennisMembership

December 2008 - Junior NJCL Winners

Well done to Kit Wallen Russel and Sam Wallen Russel for winning the Berkshire U18 NJCL division 2 in 2008. Also well done to Samual Molina and Niall McCaffrey for winning the Berkshire U16 NJCL division 2.

September 2008 - Summer Singles Tournament

The tennis club held a singles tournament on the hard courts on Sunday the 14th of September.  Every player played a tiebreak against all the other participants with the top four point scorers making the semi finals. At this stage the matches were extended to the best of seven games. Edmund Chappell defeated Alex Bayram in the final to claim his first Reading Tennis Club singles title.

June 2008 - Annual Wimbledon Tournament

The tennis club held its annual Wimbledon tournament on the grass courts on Sunday the 22nd of June 2008. This has traditionally been viewed by members as the most coveted summer tournament to play in at the tennis club. Nine pairs took part in the tournament with seeded players and non seeded players drawn together at random. All pairs played a round robin match of four games in duration against all of the other teams and the four top scoring pairs qualified for the semi finals. The winners of the tournament were Richard Mulcahy and Carl Rylett who top scored in the round robin stage and continued this form right through to the final.

March 2008 - Name Change

The name of the tennis club will change back to 'Reading Tennis Club' on 1st of April 2008. This was our name prior to our move to the University in 2001 when we become the 'University of Reading Tennis Club'. The purpose of this change is to make it clearer that the club is open to everyone. The club will still continue to play on the grass courts and the floodlit hard courts at Reading University Whiteknights campus.
